For remote control (while away from home) — yes, an internet connection is required. For local control while at home, many of our devices (especially Shelly) work offline, directly over your home Wi-Fi network.

If there is no power, smart devices do not work — just like any other electrical device. During an internet outage, local (home) control is still possible for some devices, but remote access will not be available.
